Danish stage director
Kasper Holten
Danish stage director Kasper Holten paid tribute to Vedernikov as a charismatic person, a great artist and a good colleague. "Alexander was a charismatic person, a great artist and a good colleague, whom we already miss. His time as chief conductor for the Royal Danish Orchestra offered fantastic moments and an important artistic development, and the memory of all that he gave us will forever be part of the Royal Danish Theatre's history. We send his survivors our deepest sympathy."

Kasper Holten wrote on his website: "We at Det Kongelige Teater are all shocked by the news of the far too early death of our principal conductor, Alexander Vedernikov. Alexander was struck down by COVID-19. He was supposed to conduct Beethoven's Ninth Symphony for us this evening. We dedicate this concert to the memory of this charismatic man, artist, and colleague. Rest in peace, Alexander."
