Danish stage director Kasper Holten paid tribute to Vedernikov as a charismatic person, a great artist and a good colleague. "His time as chief conductor of the Royal Chapel offered fantastic moments and an important artistic development. Alexander was struck down by COVID-19. He was supposed to conduct Beethoven's Ninth Symphony for us this evening. We dedicate this concert to the memory of this charismatic man, artist, and colleague. Rest in peace, Alexander."
