"Alexander was the finest of colleagues and collaborators. An inspiring conductor on the podium but also such a wonderful human being off it. Here in Denmark, we will always remember his authority in such a broad repertoire, his warmth and the twinkle in his eye when one talked with him. It was a particular pleasure to travel with him to Moscow for concerts with Det Kongelige Kapel in 2018. He is remembered here with much warmth and affection."
Source."We are heartbroken by the loss of Alexander Vedernikov, and our thoughts go out to his family. He was a beloved conductor here and enriched us with exceptional musical leadership across a broad repertoire, ranging from Verdi and Wagner to Shostakovich and John Adams. His thirst for creating music and his passion for defending and building upon the history of both the Royal Danish Theatre and the Royal Danish Orchestra made him a valued artist among both his colleagues and the audience. He had a long and important collaboration with the Odense Symphony Orchestra, and his loss will therefore be felt by artists and audiences across all of Denmark. I will miss his quirky, heartfelt smile, the twinkle in his eyes, and his enormous musical knowledge.".
