We are saddened that Russian conductor Alexander Vedernikov has passed away. He was a great friend of the BBC SO appearing with us many times including at the BBC Proms. He will be dearly missed by many.
Statement from BBC Radio 3 Controller Alan Davey:
“The world has lost a great musician and we have lost a friend who brought so much humanity to his music making. We were so lucky to have worked with him. Our condolences to his family and friends at this sad time.”
