In Japan, he made his debut as a guest conductor with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in 1993. In 2002 and 2004, he led the Russian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra on tour in Japan. In 2009, he successfully conducted the Bolshoi Theatre's Japanese tour, which garnered significant attention. In the same year, he stepped in as a sudden substitute to make his debut appearance with the NHK Symphony Orchestra and led the concert to success. Following this, he was invited back to conduct their subscription concerts multiple times: in May 2011, January 2014, October 2016, and December 2018.
Furthermore, in 2013, he achieved his first collaboration with a Japanese opera company, conducting Verdi's Macbeth for the Tokyo Nikikai Opera Foundation production, and also appeared as a guest conductor with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. He guest-conducted the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra again in 2017.
In addition to guest appearances with the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra (Hyogo PAC Orchestra) and serving as a guest conductor at the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo during the summer, his skills were highly evaluated in Japan.
