Moscow Philharmonic
One of the most talented, experienced, and sought-after Russian conductors, Alexander Alexandrovich Vedernikov (1964–2020), has passed away.

He performed at the world's finest theaters, including the Metropolitan Opera, the Grand Opera, and Covent Garden, and served as chief conductor and artistic director of the Bolshoi Theater for eight years. He worked with leading orchestras worldwide, including the London Philharmonic, the Bavarian Radio Orchestra, and the Dresden Kapelle, and gave Moscow a new ensemble, the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra, which still exists today. Vedernikov presented a series of unique concert programs on our stage—a series that was scheduled to continue this season.

Aleksey Shalashov, General Director of the Philharmonic:
"Today, the hopes and plans of many musical ensembles and concert halls have been interrupted. This is a tremendous loss for all of us—first and foremost, a human one, and, of course, a professional one.".
